Abstract

This paper is devoted to the study of a time-periodic model for two species competition in river environments, where the populations reproduce and compete in the benthic zone and diffuse in the drifting water zone. We obtain a complete threshold result on the persistence and extinction of two species in terms of principal eigenvalues for degenerate periodic reaction-diffusion systems, and establish the coexistence of two competing populations under persistence conditions.
