Abstract

Recent progress in the theoretical study of dynamics of polymer chains in solutions is reviewed. First, basic theoretical models of solution theory are discussed in conjunction with the renormalization‐group philosophy. With the aid of these models, transport coefficients and time dependent correlation functions are studied. Preliminary results on the flow effect are also included. For pedagogical purposes the translational diffusion constant is explicitly calculated; all the technical details are given. This may serve as a practical introduction to the renormalization‐group method applied to dynamical problems.
