Abstract

The dynamics and thermodynamic properties of the sine-Gordon system with the Kac-Baker long-range interaction are considered. The dispersion relations are derived and a closed-form kink solution is obtained. It appears that the kink width and energy increase as the range of interaction increases. Using a suitable conversion of the functional integral, the transfer matrix techniques are used to evaluate the classical thermodynamic properties of the model in the low-temperature regime. They are seen to depend strongly on the range of interaction.
