Abstract

Abstract Using the spectral moments method, we have calculated the density of states, dynamic structure factor and Raman scattering intensity for the diffusion limited cluster aggregation (DLCA) model, in three dimensions. Interactions are represented by both scalar and bond-bending models. Scattering of light is produced by the dipole-induced-dipole (DID) and bond-polarizability mechanisms. We have shown that, in the case of tensorial elasticity, the DID mechanism applied to the DLCA model gives a good description of the Raman scattering in base-catalysed silica aerogels.
