Abstract
We show how the degree of mutual and self-coupling within an integrated device can be determined using two different methods combining modelling and experiment. This coupling magnitude is then used to find the boundaries of nonlinear dynamics (NLD) in the device. The dependence of these boundaries on the coupling magnitude reflects a general trend and is an important reference for the design of photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
