Abstract

A static model, which has been extended to a dynamical, heat dissipating model via a perturbative scheme, is investigated for dynamical (in)stability. The static model is based on a linear equation of state of the form $$p_r = \gamma \rho - \delta $$, suitable for describing strange stars. Our model allows for pressure anisotropy, and we monitor the change in anisotropy as a function of both time and radial coordinate to gain further physical insight into the collapse process. The stability of the collapsing star is studied in both the Newtonian and the post-Newtonian approximations.
