Abstract

In an optomechanical resonator, the optical and mechanical excitations can be coherent converted, which induces a transparency window for a weak probe laser beam. Here, we report an experimental study of transient optomechanical-induced transparency (OMIT) using the silica microcavity with breathing modes. We have also reported experimental studies on both OMIT and light storage under nearly the same conditions also illustrates the connections between these two closely related processes. As straightforward extension of the light storage process is to use a readout pulse that couples to a different optical mode. The resulting readout process enables optical wavelength or optical mode conversion.
