Abstract

The gravitational collapse of massive objects is studied by hydrodynamic equations. Initial configurations are constructed either using a standard polytrope or using a density distribution of the form σ αr−5, wheres is a positive index. For both cases, gravitational collapse stops due to the increase of pressure, provided some thermodynamical considerations are taken into account.
