Abstract

Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer is one of the emerging technologies for electric vehicle charging applications. This paper presents an electromagnetic Finite Element-State Space based characterization environment to predict the performance characteristics of DWPT systems. This environment is applied to characterize several configurations of a prototype DWPT system utilizing multi-ground transmitter coils and a vehicle receiver coil. The proposed environment would be useful as a characterization tool in a design process and could be used as a system identifier in a design optimization environment for this class of devices.
