Abstract

Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is an ideal series compensator used in power systems to eliminate voltage variations. With advanced and modern technologies being implemented in today's power systems, the power quality issues like voltage sags, swells, harmonics, and unbalance occur. The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is utilized to counter these issues with numerous control techniques. The DVR is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink with Proportional Integral (PI) Controller and with an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based Controller. This research aims to improve the efficiency of DVR by the application of an Artificial Neural Network. The proposed method with ANN controller is found to give better results as compared to the conventional PI controller based technique.
