Abstract

The femtocell concept is a modern approach to solve the ever-increasing demand of bandwidth and coverage in mobile communication. A femtocell provides increased indoor coverage, higher data rate, better voice quality and improved multimedia experiences. To meet all these features femtocell experiences co-tier and cross-tier interference. We work on co-tier interference mitigation. In this paper, we propose a scheme, which consists of two phases to mitigate interference. In both phases, center femtocell and tier-1 femtocell adjusts its gain and coverage area to achieve optimum Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) and data rate value. We use dynamic transmitter gain management technique to bring this significant achievement. The novelty of our paper is that we are able to improve SINR of every femtocells considering all are at a different distance from center femtocell. The effectiveness of our scheme has been demonstrated through numerical simulation. The performance evaluation is conducted in terms of required Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR), data rate, and optimum coverage radius.
