Abstract

AbstractThe three‐dimensional problem of diffraction of elastic waves by a rectangular crack in an infinite elastic medium is investigated in this paper. The Fourier transform technique is used to reduce the problem to a solution of two simultaneous integral equations. To solve these equations, the crack surface displacement is expanded in a function with a double series. The unknown coefficients accompanied in that series are calculated with the aid of the Schmidt method. The dynamic stress intensity factors and the crack surface displacement are numerically computed.
