Abstract

The state-of-the-art energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and high angle angular dark field imaging have been conducted with the transmission electron microscopy to investigate the dynamic strain ageing in a Ni alloy. Enrichment of Cr and Co atoms at the stacking faults is found in the sample, indicating Suzuki segregation is responsible for the observed dynamic strain ageing at 923 K. The calculated diffusion distances of solute species along the stacking faults using the bulk diffusion coefficients suggest that the pipe diffusion along partial dislocation core is intimately involved during the tensile process.
