Abstract

This paper presents the estimation of all states in an electric power system, using Weighted least square (WLS) and Extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithms. System parameter identification used by EKF is carried out by Holts two-parameter linear exponential smoothing method. We considered standard IEEE 9 bus system as a test case to estimate the voltage magnitude and phase angle of all buses. Performance analysis of state estimator using WLS and EKF is carried out in a power system, under small and large scale disturbance.
