Abstract

The excitation spectrum arising from resonant two-photon interaction between a strong pump field and a two-level model is investigated by means of the Green's function formalism. An atom-field interaction potential which is quadratic in photon creation and annihilation operators is used. The results, valid for high photon densities of the pump field, reveal a three-peak spectrum similar to the one-photon case. The energy shift is found to be linearly dependent on the intensity of the pump beam.
