Abstract
In this paper a model is developed which describes the dynamic stability of large multi-stage flash (MSF) desalination plants. In this model, different types of thermodynamic losses in the flashing units and empirical correlations are used in describing the plant characteristics. The differential equations describing the plant are solved with the help of a special computer code. This code can calculate the effect of changing any operating variables on the stability of the plant. Calculated examples are given and compared with the experimental data available.
