Abstract

The work puts forward the dynamic analysis and optimization of a photovoltaic (PV) system equipped with solar tracker. This is a PV string with three modules (panels) arranged in-line, which is oriented (rotated) to follow the Sun from East to West (i.e. the daily motion), the elevation being fixed in an optimal position (corresponding to the implementation area - Braşov). The MBS (Multi-Body Systems) environment ADAMS is used to develop the mechanical device of the tracking system, while the control system is designed by using the DFC (Design for Control) software package MATLAB/Simulink. The controller tuning is performed in a parametric design study, which is based on DOE (Design of Experiments) Screening technique. Virtual and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the PV tracking system.
