Abstract

ABSTRACT A single-color, two-step, three-photon ionization is examined in a point of view of the dynamicshift of two-photon resonance within the framework of the Bloch equation. It is suggested that aformula well-describes the dynamic shift even beyond usual quadratic behaviour and it corresponds tothe laser-frequency detuning causing a complete population transfer to the third-bound level. 1. INTRODUCTION The dynamic shifts, i.e, ac-Stark shifts have been widely investigated for the various ionizationschemes.1'3 Here, the dynamic shift in a single-color, two-step, three-photon ionization is treated. When a monochromatic pulse is, two-photon resonantly, coupled with the chosen scheme as shown inFig.1, the first and third levels are shifted by the couplings with the intermediate level, resulting in adynamic shift of the two-photon resonance in the ionization from a continuum state which is coupledwith the third bound level.1 It is naturally thoughtthat the dynamic shift is the same as the differencebetween the two level shifts.
