Abstract

Abstract Basic concepts of the security analysis in power systems are presented. The implementation of corrective measures to preserve system security is discussed. Main characteristics of longitudinal power systems are described. The response in time of a power system under disturbance is analyzed and dynamic operating problems in longitudinal systems are identified. The functions and characteristics for a dynamic security analysis are presented, main studies required in longitudinal power systems are transient stability, frequency dynamics and voltage control. The importance of off-line dynamic studies in the control center structure is emphasized.
