Abstract

Wastewater pumping in sewage plant is a difficult application for both the pump and the seal. Mechanical seals have gradually superseded the traditional use of packing in many areas, but they often require flush water, and can still cause problems. This feature discusses an alternative solution based on a pump and seal arrangement that has been used extensively for slurry handling in the mining, mineral and metal industries.
