Abstract

This paper deals with the alignment of the trigger commands sent to the measurement instruments (MIs) cooperating in the distributed measurement system. It proposes the improvement of the embedded synchronizing hardware (ESH) previously pointed out as middleware between the node interface (NI) and the MI. In particular, the improved ESH is equipped with a wireless section to permit the implementation of a different and suitable communication protocol with the NI allowing the dynamic scheduling of the MI triggering. The advantages deal with the trigger alignment with sub-microsecond accuracy and the reduction of the time interval between the real execution time of the MI triggering and that imposed by the measurement procedure. Experimental tests are shown to validate the proposed solution.
