Abstract
This paper presents the development of the RiskDynamic Indexing model for overhead transmission lines. The purpose of the model is to provide asset management’s decisionmaking tool for divisions involved in managing the network. Risk within the context is the risk if a transmission line fails. It may fail either due to the limit of the power system or the asset’s failure. The condition assessment based on inspections, in combination with the susceptibility’s factors, defines the likelihood. Meanwhile, the consequences are measured by the impact of a failure on the company’s business values. The model assumes that the protection system could mitigate any failure. The model provides an output of index from 1 to 5 where the higher means, the higher risk of failure (i.e., the higher possibility of losing to the company). As the risk is dynamic, e.g., depends on the load flow and the asset’s condition status, the Information Technology (IT) database system is proposed.
