Abstract
We develop the analysis and numerical calculations for the response of thick anisotropic elastic plate strips subjected to transient loadings. This analysis encompasses a wide variety of laminated fibrous composite models having multioriented layers. The analysis is conducted in two steps. In the first step, the characteristic free vibrational modes of the plate strip are derived. Here, linear transformations are utilized to handle the anisotropic behavior. In the second step, the applied loads are expanded in terms of the normal modal functions and the response of the plate is obtained by superposition of the appropriate components. Numerical illustrations are given in the form of dispersion relations and space variations of the response for a representative loading situation.
