Abstract

The dynamic response of airport pavements subject to a moving aircraft load has been investigated in the paper. The airport pavement is modeled as a thin plate with all edges free resting on elastic foundation. The extended Kantorovich method is employed to reduce the governing partial differential equation of slab to ordinary differential equation through introducing free-free beam function, and the analytic solution of the problem is obtained by means of Duhamel' s integral equation. Numerical calculations are preformed to illustrate the dynamic displacement response of pavements under moving loads. It is found that the velocity of moving load has significant effect on the dynamic behaviors of pavements while the acceleration of moving load has little effect on the dynamic response of pavements.
