Abstract

The permeability of very thin bilayered NiFe strip films was studied in terms of their dynamic response of magnetization. Since the change in permeability with strip width was caused by the change in magnetization state, scanning Kerr rotation observation in such films has been also studied. The maximum permeability was obtained at a certain strip width when the magnetization process changed from multi-domain to single-domain behavior with decreasing the strip width. Relationships between the dynamics and static-state magnetic properties are also discussed.
