Abstract
Abstract We report an analysis of the dynamic response of a fibre optic ring resonator when the resonator loop is phase modulated sinusoidally. It is shown that when f mτ, the product of the modulating frequency (f m) and loop delay time (τ), becomes greater than certain value (in the range of 0·0004 to 0·06 that depends on the finesse of the ring) the response of the FORR deviates from steady state response. Experimental results are given to verify the theoretical analysis.
