Abstract
A second-order phase transition induced by absorption of acetone in nanoporous zinc terephthalate, Zn2(C 8 H 4 O 4 )2(C 6 H 12 N 2 ), has been studied by 2 H NMR and DSC data. The heterogeneous system [Zn 2 (C 8 H 4 O 4 ) 2 -(C 6 H 12 N 2 )·n(CH 3 ) 2 CO (n = 0-5) is tetragonal at n n e (to orthorhombic). The breaking of symmetry is related to a combination of a pseudo Jahn-Teller effect and the influence of quantum confinement on the dynamic behavior of the absorbed molecules in the metal-organic nanotube framework.
