Abstract

Finding the needle in the haystack: A dynamic combinatorial library (DCL) of peptides was created using the disulfide-exchange reaction of cysteines. Three cyclic peptides were found to be selective receptors for carbohydrates in water. One of these, HisHis, formed preferentially in a DCL in the presence of the neurotransmitter NANA.
