Abstract

A novel hierarchical QoS routing (HQoSR) protocol is proposed to perform adaptive area re-partition in wireless access networks. In its core, a re-partition algorithm is invoked either when traffic concentrated by the area borders cause excessive inter area handover rate or when the load imbalance between neighboring areas cause congestion and inefficient resource management. Simulations illustrate that the adaptive HQoSR mitigate both routing and mobility overhead suggesting better network performance.
