Abstract

In this paper we have developed a dynamic optimal economic dispatch policy on the basis of a stochastic availability model and a piece-wise constant incremental fuel cost model. Using these models the optimal economic dispatch under the system availability constraints and transmission losses is formulated as a dynamic nonlinear optimization problem. The problem is solved by an algorithm recently developed by the authors (Electr. Power Syst. Res., 9 (1985) 11–27). In order to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, an example is presented with detailed numerical results.
