Abstract

The paper presents the dynamic modelling of induction machine with skin-effect. The computer simulation for the transient operation is obtained from the nonlinear differential system of equations that describe the induction machine in the rotor reference frame and with currents as state variables. It is shown that by using the characteristic data available from no-load, short circuit, and retardation tests of the machine, accurate simulations of the machine under dynamic condition are possible. The predicted time function of the transient current, speed, electromagnetic, and shaft torques characteristics of the machine from the conventional model and that from the skin-effect model are compared.
