Abstract

A mixing cells model to simulate the dynamic behaviour of fixed bed catalytic reactors, operating either autonomously or with a heat recuperator is presented. Comprehensiveness and consistency of such a model are discussed by comparison with other models and checked against experimental data. A few examples are reported for illustration purposes, also covering the case of an autothermal loop where the thermal feedback can cause instability problems.
