Abstract

In our discussion of the applications of the dynamic model as a description of the properties of biopolymers and their hydrate shells, we have not so far dealt with their functional significance. We shall now attempt to apply the fundamental assumptions which underlie the dynamic model of behavior of proteins in water in order to arrive at the general principles governing the association mechanisms of specific complexes of the type antibody-antigen, enzyme-inhibitor, carrier-ligand, and to discuss the role played by the globule in these processes.
