Abstract

A dynamic model for a thermal transit-time flow sensor used to measure very small liquid flows has been developed. The model which has particular importance for the interpretation of flow injection analysis measurements is based on a frequency analysis of the heat transport phenomena in the flow cell. It is used to optimize the design of the flow cell and for calibration of the flow sensor. A simulation based on the model is shown to be in good agreement with the experimental results.
