Abstract

AbstractThe effects of polymer impregnation, moisture, and lubricant oils on the complex modulus of the grain layer of leather have been studied. The impregnated materials were prepared by introducing a mixture of polyurethane oligomer and vinyl monomers into the grain layer and polymerizing by electron‐beam irradiation. Synergism was observed in the interaction of the components of the system and analyzed in terms of the adhesion of the polymer to the collagen fibers.
