Abstract

This paper studied the dynamic longitudinal edge effect which increases the loss, lowers power factor, reduces the electromagnetic thrust of HTS LIM and is especially more obvious in high speed operation. The influence of the critical current of superconducting tapes on the dynamic longitudinal edge coefficient is analyzed for the first time. Besides, electromagnetic thrust, air gap and power frequency of HTS LIM are researched whether dynamic longitudinal edge effect is considered and the methods of reducing it have been put forward.
