Abstract

Dynamic elasticity problems in the 2D formulation are solved by the method of lines using the Crank-Nicolson implicit finite-difference scheme for time-based integration and the finite element method for solving boundary problems. The applied variant of the finite element method includes two types of elements: isoparametric elements for modeling curvilinear boundaries and cohesion elements ensuring the compliance with Barenblatt’s postulates. It is shown how to apply the method to the strength calculations by the Petrov-Morozov method.
