Abstract
Abstract This paper presents a new approach to dynamic job-shop scheduling in a flexible CIM environment using a combination of several expert system techniques. Some central problems in such environments are described and the importance of the flexibility of an adequate scheduling system is emphasised. An architecture is presented which allows the combination of knowledge of cases, applicability rules and scheduling heuristics in one system. A discussion of miscellaneous characteristics of the presented architecture and of related work is also given
