Abstract

Extracellular matrix is known to regulate vascularization by a sequence of multiple factors including mechanical forces. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Wei etal. (2020) investigate the roles of matrix biomechanics on early stages of vasculogenesis by using hydrogels with tunable stiffness and stress relaxation.
