Abstract
Dynamic headspace gas chromatography is assessed with respect to sampling temperature, desorption temperature and desorption gas flow-rate. A special test mixture, covering a wide range of volatilities and functional groups, was used to optimize the method and to determine the recoveries of individual components. Similar recoveries were obtained by use of desorption-injection and direct splitless injection. The linearity of the method and the reproducibility of the retention times are discussed.
