Abstract
The variable renewable energies (VREs) have attracted attention due to reduce fossil fuel consumptions. In particular, a number of photovoltaic power generation (PV) penetrations are being strongly promoted in worldwide. An Uncertainty management is needed to perform a system operation stably for a microgrid (MG) including electricity loads, variable renewable energies (VREs), photovoltaic power generations (PVs), battery energy storage systems (ESs), and so on. The authors develop robust energy management controller (REMC) for realizing stable system operation against uncertainties. Useful solutions are provided to the MG operator, whereas if the energy imbalances are occurred. This paper proposes a novel preventive control method of the power imbalance problem at unpredictable events using the proposed robust dynamic economic load dispatch (DELD) method with demand response (DR). The proposed method can identify the power mismatch (Pmis) in advance by using the proposed supply and demand mismatch (SDM) computation procedures. The DR is introduced to resolve the Pmis in the critical situation of MG that can be effectively avoided using the consumer-side load curtailment control. Prediction errors of PV s can be effectively treated by a novel setting of confidence intervals (CIs) obtained by historical data analysis for different time horizons for forecasting.
