Abstract

From the observation window, the dynamic distributions of dielectrics and discharge products that produced by WEDM (Wire cutting Electrical Discharge Machining) in a narrow slit were observed. The high-definition and high-speed camera recorded the drain process and the pathway of draining. With the help of camera technique, not only macroscopic pictures and videos were obtained, but microscopic pictures and videos that recorded per 1/30000 second were also obtained. The results of macroscopic and microscopic research proved that the properties of dielectric have obvious influence on the discharge process. High boiling point and good wettability of the dielectric can improve the drain of discharge products from the narrow slit. Then, the discharge efficiency and WEDM efficiency can be improved.
