Abstract

The dynamic dipole moment induced by a strong light field in a linear molecule is calculated. The resonance of the field with the electronic Σ → Σ transition is supposed. It is shown that to induce the stabilized moment a slowly-turned-on mode is necessary. The exactness of resonance and the light field intensity sufficient for inducing the dipole moment are discussed.
