Abstract

A global, microscopic (dynamic deformation) theory of nuclear collective motion has been developed in recent years which allows us to calculate the structure wave functions of nuclei as light as 12C, as heavy as 240Pu, as spherical as 208Pb, as deformed as the fission isomer of 240Pu, as transitional as 72Ge, and with as much shape coexistence as in 16O.
