Abstract

This paper presented a strategy of dynamic database connection and dynamic web map service, which were two key parts in systematical structures of dynamic internet mapping. The objective of this strategy was to improve speed and efficiency of publishing increasingly mass remote sensing images on Internet, and flexibility of customizing web map service for Internet users. This strategy was based on J2EE framework structure, provided dynamic linking to central and distributed resources including remote sensing image data, vector data, digital elevation models (DEM) data generally stored in heterogeneous database, and dynamically responded end-users' requests and assigned data connections. In a practical web mapping application, we implemented functions of interactive maps, spatial querying, online editing and geographic information browsing in real time.
