Abstract
Abstract The radial temperatures in three types of overhead line conductor are computed for various wind velocities, wind angles and solar insolation. It is seen that for the higher wind speeds and lower ambient temperatures significant radial temperature gradients exist, especially for the larger conductors. Hence it is concluded that for dynamic rating procedures based on conductor surface temperature this gradient should be taken into account.
