Abstract

The independent control of active power and reactive power flow are required in transmission line to transfer of adequate power in specific corridor. To enhance the controllability in power grid, the possible way is by regulating line impedance, voltage regulation, phase angle regulation, fault current limitation through a smart power flow controller. The “Sen Transformer” is constructed with time depended component, such as load tap changers and transformer that offers cost effective and highly reliable solution for independent control of power flow. In an ac transmission line, real power and reactive power flow are independently controlled through injecting a compensating voltage in series with the transmission line. Injecting compensating voltage through a Sen Transformer is volatile in magnitude and at volatile angle w. r. t. the voltage of transmission line and prevailing line current. To study the stability margins and the dynamic behavior of the system related with the various configuration of the system, the simple system is examined under small as well as large distraction. The outcome of the controller on various margins of stability is shown by modeling and adding the ST in the power system with large and small disturbance.
