Abstract

Dynamic compaction is a powder compaction process that involves a combination of high pressures and high strain rates to densify powder materials. Emphasized in this review paper on dynamic compaction of ceramic powders are pressures obtained by explosive detonations which generate strain rates typically from 103 to 104 s-1and reported pressures from 0.1 GPa to 100 GPa.
