Abstract

In cooperative communications, dynamic decode-and-forward transmission with rateless coding ( RC-DDF ) is most efficient in reaching/approaching channel capacity. However, it entails strict carrier synchronization among the source, relay and destination, making it hard to implement in practice. To remove the limitation, we propose a scheme named dynamic coded cooperation with incremental redundancy ( DCCIR ) where nodes transmit alternatively and thus no strict carrier synchronization is needed. Its performance is investigated in terms of both throughput and diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT). Moreover, we present a subframe-based implementation structure for DCCIR ( sub-DCCIR ) to obtain the DMT of DCCIR . The results reveal performance advantages of DCCIR or sub-DCCIR over several existing schemes and its approximation to RC-DDF .
