Abstract

The analysis of imperfect, thin, circular, cylindrical shells, subjected to suddenly applied uniform axial compression, is presented. The concept of dynamic stability is discussed and critical conditions for such configurations are obtained. Results are presented for unstiffened configurations. The effects of several parameters on dynamic critical conditions are assessed.
